How much does YouthMaster cost?
YouthMaster.org is free and there are no plans to move to a yearly/monthly fee as some similar sites have done.
How do I print a page / report?
To print any page on YouthMaster.org (including reports), simply use the [print page] link at the bottom of the page (in the footer). This will remove the page's header and left-navigation, which leaves only the main content which is sent to the printer.
How can I view / edit requirements of a single individual and also see who checked off their items?
For Duty to God, Scouting, and YW Personal Progress, there is a view which is found on the left navigationalmenus which displays the requirements (and check offs) for the entire quorum / class. In this full-class view, if you click the name of the individual in the heading of the table (the names are written vertically) it will take you to a page of requirements showing only the individual. This new, single individual, page will also show you the name of the person who checked off the requirement (as well as the date, which can be changed).
How do I join YouthMaster? (my ward is already in the system)
If your ward is already in the system: You first need to obtain the registration key from one of your leaders. Once obtained, you can just click the [register] link from the login page of your ward's site (http://<ward name>.youthmaster.org/).
You will be prompted for your personal information in addition to the registration key. Note that there are three separate registration keys per ward -- one will grant you [youth] access, another [leader] access, and finally a key for [administrator] access. Be sure to obtain the proper key from your ward leaders/admins.
How do I join YouthMaster? (my ward is not yet in the system)
- Download and fill out: [ User Template (.csv) ] for your ward ym/yw (new users must start on row 11 after the examples)
-
Email the following to admin@youthmaster.org:
- filled out template
- the name of your ward (i.e. Sacramento 4th, Cypress, Phoenix 3rd, etc)
- your 3 desired registration keys for adhoc user registrations(one for youth access, one for leader access, and one for admin access) - Give me a day or two to activate your ward and import your template. (in reality it only takes 5-10 minutes of work)
Example new ward request:
Hello,
Please add our ward to YouthMaster with the following details:
Ward Name: __your ward name__
Youth Registration Key: __password1__
Leader Registration Key: __password2__
Administrator Registration Key: __password3__
List of users: See attached our filled out roster from the template on your website.
(Our selected Administrators are noted in the spreadsheet as per the example)
Regards,
John
Note: You can choose not to email the template at the start, instead opting to import it yourself through the ward admin interface at a later date.
How do I submit a bug or ask for help?
Please use the help / contact us link at the bottom footer of the site. Please try to attach a screenshot to submit a bug.
Requests for assistance will first be sent to your local ward administrators. If need be they can escalate the requests to admin@youthmaster.org.
As a parent, how can I see my kid's status / requirements?
- Option A) Login using their child's account (ideally this would be done together during a PPI)
- Option B) Make sure their youth has the "Parent Name" and "Parent's Email" filled out in their profile. Then, have the youth subscribe to [My Duty to God] [My Scouting] or [My Personal Progress]. When any of these 3 subscriptions are processed and emailed, the parents will also receive a copy
In general it's a good practice for the youth to have their parent's email filled out in their profile, that way any mass emails designated for parents will find their way.
How do I subscribe to receive email reports?
On the reporting page (on the tools menu) anyone can create custom reports and save them with a name. There are also several built-in reports.
If you have properly filled out your email address in your profile, you may click the check mark next to any reports on this page to be added to the monthly email subscription.
It may also be a good idea to whitelist "admin@youthmaster.org" from your spam filters (otherwise your reports may be blocked). If you aren't receiving your subscribed reports, the first thing to do is check your junk mail folder / spam blocker.
Reports are sent on the first day of every month.
I'm a bit concerned about having my family's information on the internet.
We recognize that not everyone wants their children's name / address / phone / photo floating around on the internet. While we can say that everything is password protected, nothing is 100% secure. To facilitate your privacy, we have made the only required information for an account be: name, and date of birth (to know which quorum/class in which they belong). Some wards abbreviate last names for increased privacy. (e.g. John D.)
In the era of MySpace, Facebook, etc, one would like to think that YouthMaster.org would be low on the list of targets for potential trouble makers.
What's planned for the next version of YouthMaster? (v4.0)
As more feedback comes this list will continue to grow as a register of features likely to make it into YouthMaster v4.0:
- Blogging - youth and leaders can post private (or public?) blog entries with photos and text about a recent activity
- Faith in God - Primary's version of Duty to God / Personal Progress
- Stake Reports - if enough full stakes join, we'd look to make reports which cover all the wards for an specified stake
Please send in your suggestions here.
How can I get you to add feature [x]?
In order for a feature to be considered for addition, it should pass most of the following requirements:
- Be useful by multiple wards (is not just specific to your ward)
- Be within scope (YM/YW, Duty to God, Personal Progress, Scouting, etc)
- Not over complicate the user interface or the "plumbing" of the system behind the scenes. Its added value must outweight the trade off of the added clutter to the user interface (less is more in many cases).
If it meets the criteria above, it will then be put on the todo-list and may or may not make it into the next release depending on its priority and complexity.
